lasagna casserole recipe

since so many people asked for this recipe at the weekend retreat i am posting it here. for those of you who weren't at the retreat i had tons of compliments on this recipe. the best part is that it is super easy to make and freezes well so you can make on recipe and freeze half for later.

1lb. hamburger meat
1 8oz. pkg egg noodles
1 160z. sour cream
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
1 small can tomato sauce
1 small onion chopped
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 8oz. pkg mozzarella cheese
parmesan cheese

brown meat with onions, drain. add all tomato and tomato sauces, salt and pepper to taste, simmer 30 minutes. cook noodles and drain water. mix sour cream and garlic powder with cooked noodles. layer in pan in this order: noodle, meat, cheese, do two layers of each. top with parmesan cheese. bake 30 minute and 350.

colleen schaan and copic markers

ok first of all, whoever is in charge of this blog needs to be fired. or at least griped at. don't worry i have already taken care of that so no need for you to worry. lol. she is getting her act together as we speak.

the copic markers are one of the hottest items in the paper crafting world. you can do so many things with these markers. they work on a variety of materials and with the 344 colors available the blending options are limitless.

i am excited to have colleen schann come to teach us how to use these markers. below are some samples she sent to the store and they are amazing. i hope when the class is over my stuff looks half this good. she is way talented, click on her name to see what else she has going on.

if only i can figure out how to get her name off of these and claim them as my own, just kidding colleen.

my mind's eye abbey road is absolutely amazing. they have really outdone themselves this time. you just can't beat this line of paper. i love the feel, the small extra embellishments that are perfect for the finishing touch or that card that seems to be missing something. come check this out because i have a feeling it won't be here long.

with cha approaching i am already seeing tons of new stuff. i already have the new cuttlebug folders on order. have looked at tons of new flowers from prima. i have looked at enough christmas lines to either make you sick of christmas or really get you in the mood which is hard since it is supposed to be 100 degrees this week.

if you see a sneak peak of something you are interested in let me know. last time i asked for this i ordered several lines that i had not thought about ordering. those lines were a big hit, so it just shows that there are things out there that i miss or overlook. i try to order what you guys suggest but sometimes so many of you suggest similar things that i go with what there was more interest in.

tomorrow is the 10 seconds studio cross class. if you haven't signed up and are interested please call the store. learn how to emboss the metal to get some really cool looks. you can use the molds to make one of a kind embellishments on your pages and cards.

and if you need to find it you can. right here. we just got in the new star wars and clone wars papers and embellishments from creative imaginations. this long awaited line is absolutely awesome. my boys were happy to see it. i already need know i need to reorder it, because i will use lots of it.

the new tag maker for the slice and rims and lots of new slice cartridges (i may have already mention the cartridges, but...) did you know that you don't have to have the slice to use the rims and tagmaker?

we also have restocked several things in the last week.

we have a new sign!!!

i drove into the parking lot yesterday and this is what i saw.

actually i saw the guys screwing in the final pieces. it is so nice to have a sign that has our name on it. carol with embroidery boardwalk and i stood and just looked at it for what seemed like forever. we are so excited to this new sign, best part it is a gift from our landlord. yippee.

school stuff

today i got in my re-order of my custom school papers and embellishments. for each school we have 2 different patterned papers, 2 die-cuts, and 2 sticker sheets. we added 6 new schools: memphis, clarendon, hartley, silverton, texline, and sunray. that brings our total schools to fifty, that's right 50. i never in my wildest dreams would have thought we would have 50 different schools. i think we pretty much have all schools covered in the texas panhandle. if we don't have your school and you are interested in us getting it please come by the store. it helps if you are here to pick the right shades of your school colors. it just shows how far so many of you gals travel to support us. thank you, both the in town and out of town shoppers. you make it possible for me to do what i do.

also in this order we got several different destination papers and stickers. hawaii, florida, colorado, alaska, texas of course, and several others.

my all time favorite layout

i have been meaning to post this for awhile. i recently made this layout and it is my favorite ever. i used some of the new bella bella paper from my mind's eye. the circle embellishment is from prima. i also used the new bling rubons from basic grey. these rubons are super easy to use, putting the bling on the different spots was not as bad as i first thought because they clustered them together and you just have to put the group down. all of the ribbons and lace was from my grandma. when she passed away she gave me a box full of ribbons and i figured it was the perfect way to scrap them. i need to add a title but not sure what i want. leave a comment with a suggestion, i would love that.

creative cafe

i know it has been a while since we have posted a creative cafe project. just like so many other things in our lives creative cafe goes in cycles. we get projects ready no one asks for them. we hold off for a week or two (ok maybe more). then we have tons of people asking for the projects again. so... here is this week's project. a really cute layout for just $5.

stop in to make this project or call and reserve a kit. if you are asking for a kit please let us know by friday. that helps save our sanity when we get ready for next week's project we know we can pack up this one and move on. with summer fast approaching start making plans to attend creative cafe and get a quick project done.

new paper and embellishments

i told you i would post pictures of the new stuff soon. well time got away from me and really how any days can pass before it is no longer soon?

here are some images of the new lime rickey. it is going fast. i am out of paper packs already, but can always order more if you want one-and i will be ordering one for me-i didn't grab one soon enough:).

wisteria has hit the paper garden as well. if you love purple then this is the line for you.

we also got in new lines from crate paper. here is a layout from crate's website. if you look in my album later you just might find that i scraplifted this one. i think it is darling.

here is a small sampling of these new lines. the die cut sheets are glitter, which i think is super cool.

National Scrapbook Weekend Retreat

we had a blast at the national scrapbook day weekend retreat. everytime someone who works for the hotel makes this statement "there is more stuff in that room than people." it is true. all that stuff and so much fun.

there is serious scrapbook done, but i think there is always more talking. as we all know the visiting is what makes these so much fun.

the group photo shoot. i check to make sure everyone is in place, then i run to the chant "run tara run" and get in the picture. if you have ever seen a group photo before you will see that i am in my spot. everyone knows that is my spot. we had 90 women in this ballroom.

this is smitty, and he is holding his first ever layout. he decided he wanted to join the fun so i grabbed some paper, pictures, stickers, scissors, trimmer and adhesive. he was in business. his daughter's were not impressed with his page the next morning when he showed it to them. it was missing all the cute stuff. by the way, he is wearing a small tshirt, i am shocked he got in it.

this is the rest of the coaches and parents to the basketball girls that were staying in the hotel that night. they completed another layout as a group project. and believe me they needed everyone's input (look at the table if you have't guessed why).

all in all it was a great weekend. can't wait for the next one. check out the countdown if you need to know when it is.

everytime i look at the blog and see the countdown to next weekend i start to freak out. a little freak out is ok... i haven't gone to panick or hysteria. did you realize it is less than a week away.
my to do list:

move half the store

there are several things left to do but can't be done until next week...next week. i can't believe the time is here already.

we have been busy putting new stuff in and getting it out. we had a re-order of ten second studios, so if you are looking for more molds we have them in. we also got in a ton of creative imaginations (they just might be one of the nsd specials: wink, wink). lots of new american crafts thickers. rachael told me she was tired of putting new stuff in. we are getting ready for next weekend, there will be tons of fun here at the store and for those of you at the retreat.

this weekend's agenda: get lots of rest, after the basketball games, game night, and first communion.

i won something!!!!!

if you have ever been to one of the retreats at the store you may have heard me say that i never win any door prizes. that i wish someone would have retreat for me so i can hopefully win a prize. guess what... i did win a prize. i am super excited because i never win anything. prism, one of the cardstocks we carry, had a drawing for a class kit. all i had to do was place an order and i won. you can click here to go to prism's blog. i love that my name shows there on their blog and they linked to my website.

and while i was there i started looking around. i found this on their website which i thought was super cool as well. it takes the guesswork out of finding cardstock for some of the lines i carry. so all you have to do is go to the cardstock, and since i have them so conveniently labeled you can get the colors you need. how easy is that.

black market paper society's let it bloom. this line is purple without being too purple.

also, imported rhythm is a great line. i love the brown with the orange. it even has pink and you know that i am not a pink person but it is just the right amount to not freak me out.

we also got in a new line of graduation from reminisce that we are trying to get out today.

ten seconds studio class

here is christy at the demo. she is letting these ladies play with the different molds and giving them tons of ideas of how to get the most out of this metal.

we had a blast at the ten seconds studio class. this metal is absolutely amazing. you can do so much with it. in the class we used the molds to make some amazing embellishments. with this metal you can:

getting started in the class.

it is amazing stuff.

using the paper stump and mold to get the pattern on the metal.

emboss it
sand it
use alcohol inks (which will blend with the color of the metal)
use chalk inks on it
wrinkle it
die cut it

there are so many ways to make this metal fit your project and to truly make it yours.

be proud of these two. these are their first ever scrapbook pages. they will use the metal in all their various altered art projects.

if this looks like fun and you missed the class don't worry, when i have had time to play and get to really know the ins and outs i will teach another class. it definitely is something you will want to try.

its graduation time

it is hard to believe that it is graduation time again. we have our first graduation line in.

along with the graduation is marching band.

kensington garden is one of my favorite lines. i really like how they mixed the reds with the blues and greens. maybe it is because i like blues so much. it is flowered without being super girly. i can use this with my boys.

Coaster Class March 28 (2-4)

In this class you will be making four marble coaster tiles. Each tile is finished to be water resistant do the images you choose to stamp will be saved. this week we have the backyard series from american crafts. this line of 24 patterned papers is so versatile. you could do easter, spring, rainy days play, bugs, and so much more. these fun papers will definitely get you in the mood for spring if you are not there already. they have fun, vibrant, springy colors. here is a small sampling of the papers.

in my humble opinion the best part of this line is the flair (but that could be because of the obsession i have with flair that some of you know about). stickers and rubons finish out the embellishments for this line.

one of the things that was most asked for was thickers. you asked and i ordered. there are the 2 colors of the shapes you see below (i couldn't get a colored picture). i also ordered fonts and tons of them 9 fonts anywhere from 1-3 colors in each font. colors are: pink, red, green, black, yellow, baby blue, green and white. styles are foam, chipboard, glittered, puffy (my favorite), and vinyl. if you can't find one you like then it is not made. hehe.

i am having one of those today. for some strange reason my email will let me look at what i have recieved but it won't let me reply. so if you sent me an email i have read it and will send you an answer as soon as possible.

plus, rachael is at the without me and the electricity goes out. and we all know that when the power goes out things don't just turn back on when the power goes back on.

and on a personal note some kid at school threw a rock and hit my middle one in the head so he has a hole the size of a pencil eraser on his head. he told me when we got home his head was better and he could play the wii.

also while i was at school one of the other moms got stung by a wasp and apparently is allergic. so i took her son to play on the playground until her husband got there. the sad thing was i didn't even know his name, so he was "sweetie" and we did just fine.

that's what i get for taking the day off. lol.

the weekend retreat is full and we have started the waiting list, so be sure to get added if you are interested. don't get discouraged if you wanted to get in, i usually have people not come due to other commitments. plus if there is enough interest i am considering doing a 3rd event may 15-16. i will post details as soon as i decide on this event.

playtime is here. these papers are perfect boy papers. but, don't think that they are only for boys. the backside of these papers are great neutral patterns that will work for any occasion.

just a reminder in case you missed it: we have some super cute valentine's paper from heidi grace. i made two layouts and couldn't stop. it's kind of funky and every layout and card comes out looking awesome. these two layouts i did are almost completely heidi grace. "my sweethearts" came from her rose covered letters. all the papers and even the cool glittered hearts. come in and get some to scrapbook your valentines or just people you love!

if so we have the perfect line for you. this line is so great because the stickers range from breakfast in bed to the 30 minute meal. The colors are great for those older cooking photos.

lil davis designs has come out with a cute baby line. i love the pastel colors. the baby animals are super cute as well.

it could also work for zoo trips if you are looking for something different for those zoo picturs.

i've decided that layouts tend to be the most successful creative cafe projects. knowing this, i've been trying to create layouts that can also be changed. i want you to be able to make it for a boy or girl for christmas or halloween if you choose. with this layout my idea was to make the title easily changed. because of our wonderful die cutting machine your layout can be goofy or lovely or for sisters or your husband...anything you choose i can cut out for you and make your layout your own. come in from 1-3 on wednesday or anytime saturday and make this layout for $5.

jennifer will be teaching this class. i know there are several of you out there that have the software or maybe want the software, but are not sure what all it can do. jennifer will take you through the many possibilities this program has to offer. if you have the program on a laptop and can bring it to class that would be great. if not we will partner you up with some one who has it. you will get a handout with the most common questions for you to take other notes on as well.

new product to hit our store. the creative imagination's so stylish line is very glamorous. this chic line is perfect for many occasions, from prom to just dressing up. here is a sampling of some of this line. There is flocked, foiled and double sided paper, stickers, rubons, and bling.

we also have legos. this paper is embossed and feels like raised legos and embellishments are epoxy stickers which are super cool. This line has papers, brads, flat stickers, and epoxy stickers.

creative cafe project

this week's project is a super cute layout. the price for this layout is $5.

if you have never been to the artbar for creative cafe here is what it is about. each week there is a page or little project.

most of the projects take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.
they vary in price depending on what the project is.
all you need to bring is yourself. all product needed is provided.
we do the cafe wednesdays from 1-3 and anytime on saturday.
you can buy a clubcard: you prepay for $20 worth of projects, then when you like the project you come in and make it. we mark that amount off your card. when you fill your card up you get $5 free towards another artbar project.

last week we got in new creative cafe buttons. i have had several people ask about them. here is a photo of the spirit line with the flowers and square buttons. they also came in the lucky line. these are really cool.

in the beginning

i am constantly looking for the best way to get information out to you guys. i am hoping this format will please many of you.

as i thought about whether or not i wanted to create a blog for the store i began to see all the possibilities that a blog could bring. it is an easier format to change than the website. i can add pictures and information with the click of a button. so you will see some updates and changes to the website in the next few days as i begin to bring some of that constantly changing information to this blog.

another benefit of a blog is that i can let rachael post on here as well. so you will be able to see some of the great things that she has been doing. our goal is to post something 2-3 times a week, but in the beginning with the excitement of something new there may be new posts daily.

rachael and i have been brainstorming on new ideas and i have a new excitement that i hope you will be able to see in the store.
